These are made in-situ and should not be confused with inferior wooden plank-type mock beams.

Initially a metal mesh framework is adapted and attached to the ceiling. This provides a structure onto which a plaster base coat is built up. Once set, the surface layer of plaster is applied, contoured and characterised to give the necessary surface detail. Subsequently the beam is stained to give the extremely realistic appearance as seen above. Several different colours of stain are available, Walnut  stain seems to give especially good results.

External

The majority of externally mock-beamed buildings employ simple wooden plank fixtures which are susceptible over a period of time to rot and warpage if not properly maintained.

Our external beams are fabricated from a waterproof sand and cement mix.

In this age of low maintenance uPVC windows and barge boards this product provides an effect which to our view is superior to the wooden type and is in line with the low maintenance approach.
